Boys on Beat - Award in Dance Leadership Residential

Bridge of Earn, Perth, 2-Aug-2010 to 6-Aug-2010

Boys on Beat is a new programme being developed by Youth Scotland in partnership with Sports Leaders UK... just for boys!

The programme will encourage and support young men aged 16 - 24 to get more active, whilst also offering opportunities for social and personal development as well as the chance to develop key leadership skills.

The first Boys on Beat course will be a five day residential Award in Dance Leadership course. The course is designed to be practical and challenging, but most of all fun! The Leadership Awards use dance and sport to help participants develop vital skills such as planning, organisation and motivation, as well as improving communication skills and building confidence. Young men will also have the opportunity to take part in a variety of other sessions (such as confidence building and group work), as well as time to socialise and relax together in the evenings.

As well as gaining an Award in Dance Leadership, participants will also have the opportunity to complete a Bronze Youth Achievement Award.

Gaycon 2010 - Gay Men's Sexual Health and Wellbeing

20-21 October 2010, Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh

A national conference for anyone working in the area of gay and bisexual men's sexual health.  The conference will include workshops, seminars, presentations and plenary sessions and is organised by a steering group made up from HIV and health agencies across Scotland.

Building on the success of 'Gaycon08' this free two day conference aims to present the best available research and public health evidence in the field of gay men's sexual health and wellbeing; demonstrate best practice from around Scotland and further afield; explore future partnerships.  A key aim of the conference is to ensure that the implementation of national sexual health policy, including the HIV Action Plan, NHS QIS HIV and sexual health standards, meets the specific sexual health needs of gay and bisexual men at a time when rates of HIV in this community continue to rise.
